The Toucan is a Tier 2 Pet, available in the Puppy Pack but still available for free in Custom Packs. Upon fainting, the Toucan copies it's food perk it currently has to friendly pets behind it. Leveling up the Toucan will increase the number of friends it gives its food perk to.

Toucan's description has a warning that says: "Does not give food that only works once." This is only to tell players to be mindful of single-use food perks such as Melon and Steak, which are usually used up before the Toucan faints due to their one time use nature. If Toucan is knocked out without using up these food perks, like through the use of Sleeping Pill, it will still give the perk to pets behind.

Strategy

Toucan is a decent tier 2 Pet, but will pretty quickly lose potency in the late-game. That's because most of the best late-game food perks are single-use. However, it has some use cases:

• Saving gold on food in the early rounds
• Providing high tier armor such as Lemon to the rest of the team before they have it themselves
• Switching up a Pineapple to another held food after the "start of battle" phase ends
• Pivoting to better pets by fainting it onto them in the Shop (note that by using a Sleeping Pill or a Praying Mantis the pet gets to keep one-use foods)
• Using the Whale to faint the Toucan, you can pass on one-use Effects in battle. By giving your Toucan a Strawberry and then buying a Velociraptor, you can pass on Coconut to the rest of your team, as long as the Velociraptor has more attack than the Whale so it can give the Toucan Coconut before the Whale swallows it.

If a Toucan becomes Weak during battle, the effect is passed down throughout the team, creating an anti-synergy.
